Planning outfits and a little edit experimentation

3rd of February 2018

I met with my models to look through the things that we collected from the Big C charity Store. We tried to put some of the clothes together, experimenting with different outfits. We did not have a lot of clothes to experiment with so we used some of our clothes, also from charity shops (I have asked Danielle if I can borrow more clothes from another store).

Those are some of the outfits, that we thought could look good:

Those were our favorites:

 I edited them:

This kind of editing will be used as a pert of my experimentation. Of course if my client will like it as well, they can have it.

Knowing that pastels and primary colors are trendy this year I went for yellow and pink colors. I wanted it to look modern. I added layers and triangle shapes on top of it to make it look more futuristic.

I really like it and I cannot wait to have more photos to edit them that way.

I have looked at some clothes of mine and from there I build the 10 main outfits - 5 for each person.
I made sure that each outfit goes together with the other one, so for example if one model had stripes the other one would as well to match.

Some of the decisions we made are not included on the photographs as my model has not tried them on. We decided on those straight away.

The male model will wear clothes that (sor some reason) are considered as clothes for females and the female model will wear clothes that do not hide her upper body. Through that I present two things that I strongly believe in.
1. Male and Female can wear any clothes or makeup they want and those should not define their gender nor sexuality.
2. Female breast and nipples are not sexual toys for men. They have way different purpose. Moreover if men is allowed not to cover their nipples so should be women.

I have also included lots of red color which will be representative of cancer.

Symbolism of RED:
  • blood

  • Red plants attract the eye and are a good choice for areas you want to draw attention to.

Red in films:
1. The Sixth Sense (M. Night Shyamalan, 1999)
  • crimson balloon
  • ruby doorknob
  • carmine shirt

In the film, the red color is used to signify an element of horror and terror. It also alarms the audience of a ghost that is going to show up.

2. Don’t Look Now (Nicolas Roeg, 1973)

In the film the color red signifies different things and all of them show the development in the plot.

1. desolation, grief and death
2. sexual awakening
3. the joy and blissful oblivion

3. In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-wai, 2000)

  • the dress
  • the retro tapestry
  • the bed covers
  • the curtains

In the film, color red mostly represents love. Therefore it also represents the fears and desires the characters have throughout the plot.

4. I’m a Cyborg but that’s OK (Park Chan-wook, 2006)

  • red outfit

In the key scene, the main character wears red outfit which contrast with "chromatic coherence of the movie."

It represents the determination that the girl has.

The appearance of red, and its greater meaning in my photos, may be the reason for me to change my working title YOU=HOPE into something more related to this color.
